Saga Back – Cry

Gothenburg seems to be the city where many good talents arise lately. Saga Back is one of these new talents. The 20-year-old songwriter/artist has been writing songs for years but recently decided to release her songs. Cry is the second released song, her debut track There You Go… Again made a massive impression in the music landscape with been played on the swedish P3 radio and reached almost 1 million streams on Spotify now. Damn, that’s quite a quick success for a debut song!

Cry has been out on February 13th via Something Beautiful and it is produced by Mattias Nyberg (José Gonzalez, Regina Spektor and Soundtrack Of Our Lives), that sets a perfect basis for the song. It is a ballad with a refreshing sound and mood – mostly because of Saga Back’s unique voice that floats over the reduced organ-and-drums soundscape which gives her a good space to shine.

Saga Back says about Cry: “The idea for this song came from watching a video about volcanoes where someone said that eruptions are horrifying but at the same time really beautiful. “It’s absolute destruction and creation at the same time”. That expression stuck with me. I think it’s a beautiful description of what happens to you when you go through something. That you fall apart and break completely but at the same time you change and it’s almost as if you recreate yourself. I wrote “Cry” about battles within and how sometimes, the only way you can help someone is by just being there and feel everything together. “When you’re lying on the floor and you’re crying, I’ll lie next to you and I’ll cry a little too”, describes that.”
