Copenhagen-based singer-/songwriter Nils Bloch has released his debut album ‘From My Armor’ just now and altough it is summer right now, it would fit in the autumn mood at best.
As he teased with his singles like ‘I blink you disapear‘ before, the album delivers strong songwriting in a melancholic athmosphere, mostly instrumented with acoustic guitars and piano. With his sometimes fragile, sometimes powerful and intense voice he puts his emotions into the songs, what you can hear in every song.
The almost church-like ‘Batallion’, the fantastic ‘Echoes apart’ or ‘Sing me to sleep’ with it’s choir-vocals or ‘Like a minute in a dream’ show the strong songwriting skills of Nils that we could image best in intimate acoustic live setting with just his guitar.
Nils relocated from Berlin to Belgrade 2 years ago and composed and wrote the songs for his debut album there. The album was mixed in Berlin in the spring of 2024 by Australian artist and producer Oliver Holyoake.
WIth a little bit Sigur Ros, Askjell and Agnes Obel in it, this album is a wonderful journey.
What a quiet album, that makes its noise with the great melodies and the voice of Nils Bloch. Another folk-/indie album that shows the upcoming talent that is coming from Denmark.
