The swedish synth-/electro-duo Red Cell from Gävle – that is existing since 20 years – has released their new album with the same title. It delivers 39 minutes of absolute ear pleasure for fans of classic synth-based music, combining strong vocals and sweet synth-sounds from analogue synthesizers. It is an album that really has ‘all killers, no fillers’.
‘Only Night” is a straight forward example for their thriving sound – those string pads are godlike, the chorus is catchy as hell and really opens up.
Red Cell - Only Night (OFFICIAL AUDIO)
The songwriting skills of Stefan Aronsson and the vocal skills of Jimmy Skeppstedt are a great match to deliver new wave/alt-pop-bangers with a dark twist. ‘We will be birds tonight’ is a definitive indie-club-banger.
We Will Be Birds Tonight
It is just March and we have the best synth-album of the year already, it seems. With tracks like ‘Good Morning, Good Light’ they show their flexibility with a sounds that lives between Depeche Mode and Erasure-styles and has super-catchy piano parts. And again: What a classic, fantastic chorus!
The self-titled album of swedish synth-pop-duo “Red Cell” is a very versatile album that will make every friend of danceable, classic synthpop-sounds VERY happy. The sweet and sour melodies float elegantly over sounds that deliver the warmth of anaolgue synthesizers and there are many reminiscences to classic actly New Order, Erasure, Depeche Mode, etc.
