Debut album & Tour in Germany: Two Year Vacation – Slacker Island

Remember the good ol’ days when bands like the Arctic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club, Team Me and more guitar-based indie-rock bands hit the spot with their fresh and energy-driven sound? Well, then it is good to hear that the wait for a new and fresh band is over:

Two Year Vacation from Sweden deliver a powerful, melodic and sing-a-long debut album that is perfect for the summer. The name of the band is the credo for the sound: How would it sound, when musicians have nothing to worry about but making music for two years. This relaxed mood is a key to all the songs on the album, that is a real indie-album with a playtime of 33 minutes with 11 songs: No filler, all killer.

After the laidback intro the album starts with Better Off Alone a real banger with great hit-potential. Indieed one of our most loved songs this year so far.

The way I was before is so classic indie with that sing-a-long melody, funky guitar licks and thriving melodies.

With I forgot your name (but I like you) the next hit-song is delivered. So charming, young and a song to cruise to.

With that rhodes sounds in Can’t take my eyes off you we are reminded of the Caesars, but not that loud and much more melody driven. Out next highlight on this album. YES!

Wannabe (High) is a good mid-tempo song, Far away from home is an extreme groovy and funky tune – that reminds us of https://www.disasterintheuniverse.com/

Overall it is a great feel-good-album with reminiscenses to the 60s, the 90s and a mixture of many, many styles like indie, rock, funk, world. This variety makes it a pleasure to listen to.
