Bergen in Norway is not a big city – and nevertheless it produced a number of music acts and trends, that inspired the music scene for many decades now. Acts like Kurt Nilsen, AURORA, Alan Walker or KYGO topped the charts many times worldwide recently. And acts like Royksopp or Kings of Convenience started various “Bergen waves” with setting up new musical styles – “Quiet is the new loud” from Erlend Oye’s “Kings of Convenience” for example.
But there is much more coming up from Bergen that is quality music too and has to be heard abroad. Some are well known musicians in Scandinavia and some are part of the “new” wave from Bergen. Let’s name Chain Wallet, Alibiet, Festplassen, Silja Sol, Sigrid, Tellef Raabe, dePresno, Datarock, Kakkmaddafakka, Misty Coast, Norsk Tiger, Razika or Young Dreams. But there are so many more – singing in english or norwegian language.
A good mixture of five of these bands/musicians of the Bergen-based label “Apollon Records” will come to Berlin on Friday, February 10th to show their music:
Junk Machine (with Kakkmaddafakka’s drummer Kristoffer van der Pas) are playing are mixture of glam rock, psychedelic blues and spiritual rock.
William Hut (known for many good solo releases in the recent years – including the smash-hit “Take it easy” – and the work with the Norwegian Grammy Award winning band “Poor Rich Ones”).
Pogo Pops (one of Bergen’s treasures and most known indie-rock bands, celebrating next year their anniversary with 30 years Pogo Pops)
Kiss Kiss King Kong, a trio playing powerful jam-based rock with well-known musicians who are on the road with other acts like Casiokids, Silja Sol, Real Ones, Good Time Charlie and Herr Nilsson.
Wholy Martin is a Norwegian 6 piece band led by Helge Martin Frames. Their sound is melancholic, a little dark and perfect for looking through the windows of an norwegian house in wintertime while it is snowing.
Do yourself a favour and attend this evening with high-class music from one the the most beautiful cities in Europe.
Location: Musik + Frieden, Falckensteinstraße 48, 10997 Berlin
Starting at 19:00, the tickets cost 8 Euro.
The event is hosted by Berlin-based PR- and consulting agency Nordic by Nature.
