Darling West – While I was asleep (Album Review)

Darling West from Oslo consist of Mari Sandvær Kreken, Tor Egil Kreken and Kjetil Steensnæs and they are not a band but very well booked studio musicians too. Having this said it is clear that this raises the expectations in a positive musical way.

A while ago they were introduced to us with the song The Sweetest Tune, a country-esque song with perfect guitar-playing and chorus-melodies that you don’t hear too much on this level.

Darling West - The Sweetest Tune

While I was asleep is the name of a song and the second album of norwegian Folk/Americana/Country-band Darling West which came out on 26.02.2018.

On the new album they start with Loneliness, that instantly grabs this vibe and delivers with steel guitar sounds and a relaxed country vibe.

Better than gold and Don’t I know you go in more Americana-styled direction, Always around is good Folk-song.

While I was asleep is another single-track with a video and singing in two voices that harmonize very good on thr whole album:

The song Traveller has another video:

Review summary

While I was asleep is a very well played album, that has a consistent mood with it’s country-esque lightness that makes it easy to like. Besides that it is good music from musicians that know what they are doing, which we really appreciate.
